Employees strike on demand of DA in West Bengal, work stalled in government offices

West Bengal government employees are on strike demanding DA (gratuity). Sangrami United Forum has called for a 24-hour strike on Monday. The State Coordination Committee announced its support for this protest program. The Sangrami United Forum has written a letter to the Chief Secretary of the state informing about the stoppage of work.

The organization has demanded that from the year 2009 till now, according to the AICPI, the arrears of dearness allowance have been sought. The organisation has also demanded transparent recruitment for all vacant posts. The work of government offices has been disrupted due to the strike by state government employees. The members of the organization said that even if they go to the office and sign on this day, they will not do any work. Despite the holiday, the organization has ordered the workers to march in the district. However, it has been said that all emergency services like hospitals will remain operational.

On this day, many workers participated in the Dhamatala Dharna Manch. They were seen shouting slogans continuously. Their only demand is that DA dues should be paid and transparency should be maintained in recruitment. Along with this, they have also started a hunger strike. Today is the fourth day of their fast. On this day government employees also warned that if they do not get DA dues, they will paralyze the government.

In this regard, BJP All India Vice President Dilip Ghosh said, “No one listened to the government employees. One day there will be an explosion. The people of the state will be angry sometime or the other. If these workers do not use the pen today, then what will happen to the entire state?"
